The primary objective of the Scilab GUIVerse Hackathon is to empower participants to transform static Scilab scripts into interactive and user-friendly applications. The hackathon aims to encourage students, educators, researchers, and professionals to develop innovative GUI-based solutions using Scilab GUI tools.

Through this hackathon, participants will gain hands-on experience in application development, problem solving, scientific computing, visualization, and open-source learning using Scilab.

Important Note

The Spoken Tutorials already cover introductory calculator and plotting examples. Participants are encouraged to creatively extend these concepts and develop original applications.

What Participants Must Submit

• Source code
• README/documentation
• Short demo video (less than 2 minutes)
• Problem statement
• GUI screenshots
• Sample outputs/results

• GUI design and interactivity
• Problem relevance and innovation
• Functionality and correctness
• Use of Scilab GUI components and concepts
• Code readability and structure
• Documentation quality
• Creativity and overall implementation quality

Many other criteria may also be considered during the evaluation process.

• Open only to individual participants (team participation is not allowed).
• Students, researchers, educators, and professionals passionate about numerical computation and application development
• Basic understanding of programming and computational tools.

Rules and Regulations

• The application must use at least three distinct GUI components.
• All submitted source code must be original. Plagiarism or direct copying from online Scilab repositories will lead to disqualification.
• The same participant cannot submit multiple entries.
• All approved and completed submissions will be published as open-source projects.
• Any participant found engaging in malpractice or unfair means will be immediately disqualified.
• The decision of the review committee and organizers will be final and binding. No queries regarding the results will be entertained.
